"Barriers to Entry" by Brian Parkin Opens June 6th
Brian Parkin's new exhibition of gate photographs Barriers to Entry” opens at Moab Art Works gallery at 7pm on Friday June 6th. For this project Parkin uses traditional photographic techniques capturing images on film and making color enlargements on Ilfochrome media. All images were made locally in the past three months, locations included industrial areas, ranches and residences.

"This series of gate photographs is my first extended project since 'Recent Developments' premiered in June 2006. Once again I'm interested in the significant presence of humans in the landscape. For these works I focused more on division - here from there, us from them, privileged to enter or not” said Parkin. “The more I explore the Moab area looking at gates, the more I find out about the subject. Gates have a front and a back. They can be locked or not - or have a lock but not be locked. They are entrances, exits and barriers. They are used and not used. They are openings in the barriers that divide our common inheritance – land."

Brian Parkin's "Barriers to Entry" opens June 6th at Moab Art Works, 35 North Main Street, Moab. Brian will give a short talk about the photographs starting at 7pm. The talk and exhibition are free and open to all. Works will be on display throughout June and July. For more details call (435) 259 3010 or visit moabartworks.com
