An exhibition of traditionally-made black and white photographs by Cissy Spindler opened Saturday October 4th at Moab Art Works gallery.
“For me photography is an emotional experience. Looking at great images provokes a feeling that is unparalleled. It has more to do with the emotional response than technical expertise. It may be rough, but if it shows me the truth, makes me feel, then it works. It is a wonderful thing and a wonder to me. Words are not necessary. The image speaks. This is visual success.” said Spindler. “It's about distilling the essence of your subject to a simple visual statement."
“Cissy's images are deceptively simple in their composition but that's what gives them their strength and wide-appeal to the viewer” said Brian Parkin of Moab Art Works. “I invite everyone to come along and enjoy the photographs on display in the final show at our current location.”
"Distillations of the Western American Landscape" is on show at Moab Art Works gallery, 35 North Main Street, Moab Until October 30th. The exhibition is free and open to all.
Cissy Spindler currently lives in Solvang in Central California and teaches online photography courses for The Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
