"The series of gate photographs "Barriers to Entry" is my first extended project since "Recent Developments" which premiered in June 2006. Once again my interest lies in the significant presence of humans in the landscape. This time I am more focused on division - here from there, us from them, privileged to enter or not. The more I have explored the Moab area looking for gates, the more I have discovered things about gates. They have a front and a back. They can be locked or not - or have a lock but not be locked.
